SIX Payment Services have unveiled mPRIME, their new mobile terminal which streamlines merchants’ and traders’ cashless payments.

Merchants have the possibility to process card payment via their mobile device, a tablet or iOS/Android smartphone. The app, offered for Android and iOS, is available for free download.

mPRIME is compatible with all major credit and debit cards, including: Visa, VPAY, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express, PostFinance, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay and JCB. Contactless payments using near-field communication (NFC) can also be accepted. Additionally, currency conversion (DDC) is provided. Current PCI certifications are included.

The device comes in two variants. The mPRIME APP AUTONOM is the entry-level version, offering a cost-effective solution compatible with tablets or smartphones. The mPRIME PINPAD, described as an integrated POS solution, can be connected to existing POS systems through the SIX TIM interface and offer an optional bar-code scanner. Devices can be rented or purchased.

At the moment, the mPRIME mobile payment terminals are only available in Switzerland. SIX is planning to release its solution in Luxembourg and Austria in spring 2018.
