Macropayment

The opposite of micropayments, macropayment refers to the processing of payments with sums exceeding a certain limit, usually set to five or ten euros.

Payment methods

A large array of payment methods can be used to accept macropayments, e.g. advance payment, direct debit, cash on delivery and credit cards. In the last years, internet payment solutions, such as e-wallets have been increasingly popular.

Pricing

Payment methods’ pricing structures often feature fixed fees. For smaller transactions, those payment methods become disadvantageous. Online retailers receiving a lot of micropayments and macropayments should focus on finding a provider with a flexible cost structure.
