Since 2009, BillPay offers payment methods including billing, partial payment and direct debit in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
With SEPA-capable direct debit, merchants can offer their customers one of the most popular methods of payment - with a 100% payment guarantee, an advantage for merchants. If the customer pays late or does not pay at all, BillPay takes over the costs for the return debit, the risk and claim management, as well as collection notices.
For the customers, the process is super easy: They enter their delivery and billing addresses, as well as their account information. BillPay then checks the information in just a few seconds. The merchants can then finalize the order, initiate the billing process and send the ordered product. BillPay takes the billed amount from the bank account of the customer.
The billing method is still one of the most popular payment methods in Germany. With billing, the customer enters their name, address and their email address. Entering more sensitive information is not necessary. Instead of the merchant’s account information, the BillPay account information is shown on the customer’s bill. BillPay offers a 100% payment guarantee. The merchant does not need to worry about risk and claim management, as BillPay fully covers it.
Through BillPay, merchants can choose to bill in installments. Customers can choose between flexible installments, between 3 and 24 months. If a customer chooses an installment purchase option, the first installment is billed 30 days after ordering. The assessment of the customer and the decision are completed entirely online and in real time. There is no media interruption through Post-Ident. The execution of installments is completed through direct debit, transfer or through Giropay.
When an extension agreement is completed in a certain amount of time, the actual payment plan of the customer can be extended. The customer must extend their payment plan themselves, through their BillPay customer account. Service fees are applicable for this service, the amount is dependant on the length of the delay - the longer the extension is, the higher the fees.
For every online purchase over BillPay, there is an automatic check that runs in the background, that confirms the identity and credit of the customer. If the credit of a customer is good and the identity of the customer is confirmed, the purchase will be completed through billing, direct debit or installment payments.
